How do you see clients?

I primarily conduct sessions online or by phone.

Arrangements for face to face sessions in the Helensburgh area or other alternatives can also be accomodated. Please reach out to discuss your preferences at any time.

What is the initial consultation?

A 10 min conversation online or by phone to discuss your reasons for seeking therapy.

As the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors, it gives us a chance to decide if we can work together. We can discuss what your expectations are and whether we feel I can help.

As this is not a therapy session, there is no cost.

When can I have therapy?

I operate a flexible schedule and can make accommodations for those with caring or employment responsibilities, including daytime, evenings and weekends.

The majority of clients prefer the consistency of weekly sessions. However, in order to keep therapy affordable and accessible, I am happy to be flexible.

Please contact me to discuss your individual requirements.

How long do sessions last?

Each therapy session is 50 mins long.

How much will it cost?

Details can be found on the Fees page.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies for each client. I generally start with 6-8 sessions as standard, however some clients will require less and others more. I prefer to be flexible and accomodate each individual’s requirements and budget.

Are our sessions confidential?

Sessions are completely confidential except for the following circumstances:

1. Case-work discussions with clinical supervisors. This is standard ethical practice and clients remain anonymous. Clinical supervisors are bound by the same code of ethics and confidentiality.

2. If I believed there was a risk of you harming yourself or others. I would always try to discuss any actions with you first.

3. If there was any risk to a child or notification of child abuse.

4. If subpoenad by a court of law.

How do I cancel sessions?

Sessions can be cancelled or changed provided 24 hours notice is given.

After this time, the full session fee will be charged.

Please email giving as much notice as possible.

What is your code of ethics?

I abide by the Ethical Framework of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

Do you keep notes?

I keep brief notes on sessions. However they do not contain client names and are stored securely. All confidential information is held in accordance with the 2018 Data Protection Act.

What to do if I am in crisis?

I do not offer an emergency service, however if you are in need of immediate assistance you can seek advice and support from NHS 111 and The Samaritans.
